Associate Professor Shannon Reid BSc, MBBS(Hons), FRANZCOG, FRCSC, PhD(Med), DDU
A/Prof Shannon Reid is a Gynaecologist, Endometriosis Specialist and Advanced Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgeon. She is a conjoint Associate Professor at Western Sydney University Medical School. She is the director of Sonacare Women’s Health and Ultrasound, a specialist gynaecology centre that provides a wide range of ultrasound and gynaecological services.
Born in Vancouver, Canada, she completed her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of British Columbia. She then moved to Australia, graduating from the University of Sydney Medical School with honours. She completed specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG), as well as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada(FRCSC). She then completed a fellowship in Pelvic pain, Endometriosis and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at BC Women’s Hospital, Vancouver.
A/Prof Reid is actively involved in training and research and is a training supervisor for the national training program in advanced gynaecological endoscopy. She completed a PhD (University of Sydney) on “The use of ultrasound for planning endometriosis surgery” and is internationally recognised for her research work in endometriosis.
