Time to say “Thank you” to our General Practitioners (GPs)
The George Centre works with many medical specialists daily as they provide surgical services and care for our surgical patients during their stay with us, as well as the care of our maternity patients and our new bubs.
However, for most people treatment from a medical specialist is not a regular occurrence.
But our GP or family doctor is different. They are our “Specialist in life”.
Our wonderful GPs have a huge impact on us as individuals and in our community because they care for their patients of all ages; month after month, year after year.
They provide health screening and advice, coordinate care and manage patients with complex and chronic conditions and play a crucial role as the cornerstone of primary healthcare in our community.
They act as the first point of contact for most individuals seeking medical assistance and are essential for both individual patient care and the overall health of the community.
As well as being trained to manage a wide range of health issues from acute illnesses to chronic conditions, our GPs also play a vital role in preventative care and health promotion.
General Practice is a complex and challenging specialty because if doesn’t just treat one part of the human body – our GPs take care of the whole person.
We are privileged to have so many dedicated and caring GPs in our community and take this opportunity to say “Thank you” to our GPs for their commitment in providing ready access to continuing care and for their support of our hospital’s services and specialists.
